Holy George: Who?
So, who are Holy George, then? And for that matter, what about the name? Why, you may be asking yourself, why oh why are you called Holy George? Is there, in fact, a religious angle or are we missing something? Well, there are indeed many religious angles in the world but we have to say that none of those angles belong to us. Not even a small one. Well, to be honest, Holy George is pretty much a religion-free zone. We simply decided that was the name to call ourselves. It’s as simple as that.
Meanwhile, on the matter of specifics, Holy George are made up of two fairly, more or less (for an ungiven value of more or less) ordinary individuals, Simon Robinson and Steve Brown and we are both passionate about our music (especially if there is nothing much on the TV)
When we get the urge (every 20 years as previously stated elsewhere) we spend far too much time closeted in our 'home' studio trying to find the proverbial missing chord and cursing the occasional quirkiness of various software recording programs - normally 3 seconds after something has crashed, and 7 seconds before an outstretched mouse-button finger hasn't quite managed to press 'save'... It doesn't stop us though; instead we look at it philosophically and view it as a natural moment to take another break for more tea :-)
We have known each other for a seriously long time, so much so, that we can both remember when the other one had hair. On and off over that time we have played guitar together, sometimes more, sometimes less, depending on what interesting pecadillos that life has deemed necessary to throw in our paths to distract us. Sometimes there seems to be far too many pecadillos for our liking.

Importantly, in this time, we have learned that one should never, never, NEVER underestimate the possibilities of the ambient reverberative qualities of a saucepan, nor the regenerative properties of a bacon sarnie - why the NHS does not use the latter as the first line of defence in treating all illnesses we will never know: BACON SARNIES - the prophylactic treatment for all and everything.
Musically, Simon is the true guitarist out of the pair of us. His nimble fingers can often be seen (when not making bacon sarnies) flying effortlessly across the fret board with consummate grace and in many other various and highly poetically descriptive ways, whereas Steve produces seemingly endless processions of usually bleak words and will hang a lyric on any two chords that happen to be passing at any given time (usually the only two he can play) or, on a really good day, possibly three.
For recording purposes, Simon also handles the bass guitar and competently dabbles with keyboards. His main ambition at the moment with regards keyboards is to master "Roll Out The Barrel"!! Steve handles vocals and, for the purposes of home recording, backing-vocals too - do-wop, do-wap - and his main ambition is to remember all the words to whatever song he is crucifying at the time..
